Information for professionals who wish to discuss or refer patients for specialist hearing or cochlear implant evaluation.
When to refer
- Failed newborn hearing screening, or parental concern about a child's hearing or speech development
- Suspected or confirmed hearing loss requiring diagnostic audiology
- Limited benefit from appropriately fitted hearing aids
- Severe to profound hearing loss where cochlear implant evaluation may be appropriate
- Sudden change in hearing (please advise prompt review)
- Requests for a second opinion on hearing or device management
